Untangling the truth

Lar: "Katherine, what did you do to Alex?
K: "I threw dirt in his hair."
L: "Why did you do that?"
K: "Because he dumped out my water to make mud."
L: "Alex, what did you do to Katherine?"
A: "I don't want to talk about it."
L: "Did you dump her water in the mud?"
A: "No, I dumped her water in the dirt. Then I used it to make mud."

Soul Music

Music is supposed to feed the soul; at least Becca thinks so. This morning I found my CD, The Soul of Chant, on the ground, covered with drool marks, with big scratches marring both sides--the work of sharp little teeth.

...Land

Katherine has been making travel passes for all of us, ripping off a corner of her precious colored paper and writing your destination on it. She tries to think of the perfect place for you to go. For me, she has chosen
--England
--FranceLand
--SpainLand
--Medieval Land
--Stained Glass Land

Alex gets to go to
--Banana Land
--Train Land

And she's sending herself to
--Flower Land
--Family Land, "where you can see your all your family, including those who have passed on"
Sounds like heaven to me.

Easter Morning

Alex was in quite a mood over breakfast before church--didn't want maple yogurt, didn't want strawberry jam on his toast, didn't want the strawberry jam transferred from his toast to his maple yogurt...anyway, he was acting out and ended up doing time out in his room.

When I went to get him out of time out, I had the stray thought to take the Ensign with me. So I snagged our copy and went to confront my still-grumpy son. I sat him down on my lap and opened to the 2-page spread of pictures from the life of Christ. Pretty soon Alex and I were poring over the pictures of Jesus blessing the Nephite children, Jesus and the fig tree, Jesus stepping out of his tomb, Jesus speaking to Mary Magdalene. Alex calmed down as the Spirit filled the room, and when I invited him back to breakfast, he didn't want to put the magazine down.

We are so grateful for the sacrifice of our Savior and all that he does for us. Christus resurrexit--Christ has risen. Alleluia.

Night reading

Alex, on picking up a book as he's tucked in:

"This is the book I read when I'm asleep."

Hot and Cold

On the cost of hot and cold tap water, Katherine says:

"You don't pay as much for cold water, because they can make it from snow. And that's free."

Railroads & Rivers

Lake Whatcom Railway

The Lake Whatcom Railway runs a diesel locomotive along with two pullman cars furnished as they would be in the 1940's. While they have not run the 1907 steam engine in about 10 years, they may let you blow the whistle.

The Coloring Contest

Katherine and Alex had a coloring contest today. Each colored two pictures, then the other person chose their favorite. A contest everyone can win!

No joke

When we woke up on April 1, it was snowing outside. Even the weather knew what day it was!

Dinosaurs

Alex sings:

"Are there baby dinosaurs in heaven? There used to be, but they grew up."
